Meet Our Rotators: Lisa King

by | Jul 29, 2022

Lisa King left Cape Town when she was 21 to pursue a career in acting and modelling and settled in LA for 8 years. She also travelled around the globe modelling, living in San Diego and London for a few years. The pull of Cape Town was stronger than Hollywood though and she returned home. Opening her first art gallery 17 years ago, she ran that before her Mom took over. Whilst running the art gallery, she started The Lisa King Collection, a range of shoes, which has grown hugely over the last 15 years and gradually took all of her time. She’s looking to launch her own sneaker range in the near future and make a move back into the art world. Amongst all of this, she is also Mom to two beautiful girls. She loves a game of Padel and to walk along the sea front. Her motto is “Love what you do and do it with the ones you love”.

Why did you decide to join the Rental Revolution with Onrotate and share your wardrobe?

I love the concept. I believe in the concept and would love to see another business succeed in the world of up-cycling and recycling for sustainability reasons.

If you had to describe your style in three words, what would they be?

Classy, classic and chic.

Whose wardrobe would you most like to rent – dead, alive or fiction?

Halle Berry – just love her style!

What are your favourite pieces from other Lenders’ wardrobes on the Platform?

I love the Lena gown from Billi-Ann’s wardrobe and Dorita’s Rat and Boa Isabella dress.

If you could be a colour or a print which one would you be and why?

Green because I resonate with the fact that it’s the colour of nature and it happens to match my eyes!

What is the most treasured item in your wardrobe?

My cream Stella McCartney jacket – I just love it. It was a gift from one of my best friends and I’ve loved it ever since.
